The Ken–Betwa Link Project is committed to implementing Land Acquisition, Resettlement and Rehabilitation (R&R) in a fair, transparent and people-centric manner, in accordance with applicable legal provisions. Under Phase-I, the Daudhan Dam reservoir entails about 9,000 ha of submergence, comprising 5,761 ha forest land, 1,784.67 ha government land and 1,454.33 ha private land, affecting nine villages (Daudhan, Kharyani, Palkhoa, Sukwaha, Bhorkhuwa, Ghughri, Basudha, Kupi and Shahpura) in Chhatarpur District.
In addition, 6,017 ha non forest land has been acquired in connection with requirements associated with the Panna Tiger Reserve under Forest Clearance conditions. This affects five villages (Neguwa, Kakra, Pathapur, Dugariya and Kadwara) in Chhatarpur District and eight villages (Dondi, Khamri, Marha, Majhauli, Kauni, Katahri Bilhata, Gahadra and Kudan) in Panna District. Overall, R&R activities cover 22 villages and 5,039 Project Affected Families (PAFs), including 1,321 in Panna and 3,718 in Chhatarpur. The programme provides compensation, applicable entitlements, rehabilitation, resettlement and livelihood support in accordance with the RFCTLARR Act, 2013 and the Special Compensation Package announced by Govt of Madhya Pradesh in 2023.

The Ken–Betwa Link Canal is a key component of the Ken–Betwa Link Project, connecting the Daudhan Dam in Madhya Pradesh with Barua Sagar near Jhansi in Uttar Pradesh. Extending approximately 216.465 km, the canal will require land across Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh for its construction and associated infrastructure.
The tentative land requirement for the Link Canal is approximately 2,592.32 hectares across 116 villages, comprising 2,001.32 hectares of private land, 396.53 hectares of government land and 194.42 hectares of forest land.
In Madhya Pradesh, the land requirement covers 54 villages in Chhatarpur District, 41 villages in Tikamgarh District and 10 villages in Niwari District. In Uttar Pradesh, it covers 11 villages in Jhansi District.
Land acquisition is being undertaken in accordance with the RFCTLARR Act, 2013, applicable State rules and other relevant statutory provisions. The process includes determination and payment of compensation, along with applicable entitlements and Resettlement and Rehabilitation (R&R) benefits to Project Affected Families (PAFs), wherever applicable.
